Warning Description: Special Statement

Warning Date: 1:23 am CST on February 7, 2012

WarningSum:...Dense Freezing Fog Is Expected Near Rivers And Lakes Early This
Morning...

Warning Message:...Motorists should drive with appropriate caution...
Cold air spread into the mid state overnight...and temperatures
around sunrise are expected to range from the upper 20s in lower
30s. This will result in areas of dense freezing fog along and near
rivers and lakes...and motorists should exercise appropriate caution
when driving through foggy areas. Driving visibilties will be
severely restricted where fog is most dense...and may be as low
as just a few hundred feet.
Most Road surfaces will remain warm enough to prevent ice
formation. However...it is possible that patchy ice could form
along bridges and overpasses...especially in spots where fog is most
dense and temperatures reach the upper 20s.
You should always plan to slow down when driving through foggy areas...
whether temperatures are freezing or not. Leave enough braking
distance between you and the driver in front of you. Failing to
adjust your driving speed in foggy areas can result in an accident.
So...slow down and use low beam headlights...and remember to keep
a close eye on the edge of the Highway...where pedestrians or
school children may be standing.
Fog should dissipate by 900 am or so.
